Will Genia and Queensland Reds teammate Quade Cooper are excited about the possibility of combining for the Wallabies again under new national coach Ewen McKenzie but they won't take selection for granted.
The duo have built up a strong understanding in the halves during McKenzie's tenure at the Super Rugby franchise but they were separated at Test level when playmaker Cooper fell out of favour after criticising the Wallabies' environment under former coach Robbie Deans.
Genia said on Wednesday he'd spoken with Cooper since McKenzie's appointment as Deans' successor on Tuesday and they were eager to take to the field once more as teammates for Australia.
"We've been fortunate enough to work with him (McKenzie) here and see the good things he's capable of doing," halfback Genia told reporters in Brisbane.
"You can't hide the fact that Ewen's always been a big fan of Quade's but just like every other player in Australia we're going to have to prove ourselves.
"Everyone has a clean slate and everyone has to prove they're worthy of the jumper again."
